Sundance 2020: Ron Howard’s California wildfire documentary and more Day Two highlights

Movie Celeb News

Acclaimed filmmaker Ron Howard said a personal connection moved him to make Rebuilding Paradise, a documentary about the most devastating wildfire in California history.

The community of Paradise, California, a town in the Sierra Nevada foothills, attempts to rebuild after the most lethal and costly wildfire in Californian history, the Camp fire killed 85 people and turned most of Paradise, once a community of 26,000 people in Butte County, into ashes in practically a single day, Nov. 8, 2018.

Backed by National Geographic and clearly largely intended for TV consumption, the film skews toward a more palatable, optimistic message.
