Awards,

The 29th annual SAG Awards will be held on Sunday at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Netflix’s YouTube channel will livestream the event, which will be available on Twitter and Facebook, as well as on this website.

Before the announcement of this year’s SAG Awards nominations in January, Netflix and SAG-AFTRA revealed a contract that would see the awards show transfer to the streaming service in 2024.

This year’s YouTube agreement is a short-term solution because the SAG Awards did not have a broadcasting partner after severing its long-standing partnership with TNT and TBS.

The SAG Awards, which focuses exclusively on acting, is the next major Hollywood guild to reveal its nominations. Although the event honours only acting, the fact that many SAG-AFTRA members are also Academy members means that nominations here can have a significant impact on one’s chances of winning an Oscar. The most prestigious awards of the evening are presented to the leading cast in a motion picture and the leading ensembles in comedy and drama series.

The film nominees for the SAG Awards include A24’s “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and Searchlight’s “The Banshees of Inisherin,” with the former recently winning big at the PGA Awards. These two movies are competing against the ensembles of Paramount’s “Babylon,” Universal’s “The Fabelmans,” and United Artists Releasing/UAR’s “Women Talking” for the prestigious Ensemble trophy, which “CODA” won last year on its path to the Best Picture Oscar.

This year, two new TV drama and comedy ensembles will be crowned as last year’s winners, “Succession” and “Ted Lasso,” are not in contention. The ceremony will award 13 film and TV categories, with Sally Field receiving the SAG Life Achievement Award.
